What Makes Me Like Foxwell NT510 for VAG?

With new technology, it’s getting harder and harder to DIY on your own vehicles, especially on cars with the best anti-theft system like VW Audi.

Many readers ask me the same query over and over again:

Is there any cheap, reliable tool that I can use to fix common problems on my Audi?

And the answer I have for you is Foxwell NT501

This Audi-specific scan tool is freaking awesome for most VW/Audi cars.

It’s cheap, portable, and powerful enough to keep in your toolbox for both simple and complex tasks.

Looking for a comprehensive review of this Audi scan tool?

1. Forget the fear of flashing dashboard lights on your VW/Audi.

This Audi scanner has a lot of helpful features and can easily pull up the code that your car stored.

The number of things Foxwell NT510 can check and adjust is pretty amazing.

You will be totally amazed by how detailed this scanner can read and all the extra features it has access to in the VAG system.

While watching the real-time data, this Audi scan tool provides you with a detailed diagnosis of the problem.

This helps in identifying the issue quickly and having solutions as soon as you have enough information.

foxwell nt510 full diagnosis

I first used this scan tool to scan the ABS system on a 2003 VW Jetta.

It worked flawlessly.

So I continued testing it on another customer’s vehicle, a 2011 Audi A4.

It successfully read and cleaned all codes, it could also change the rear brakes as well.

However, when you scan all systems, you must wait for a while because it takes longer than expected to scan.

Aside from that, the Foxwell NT510 is an absolute must-have for those who own a VW or Audi!

2. Reset multiple car modules in seconds after repair with tons of advanced service functions.

Besides the basic functions such as reading codes and live data, Foxwell NT510 Elite also provides advanced functions such as:

  • Oil reset, airbag reset
  • Service due reset
  • EPB reset
  • Battery register
  • Injector coding
  • ABS bleeding
  • DPF regeneration, etc.

Honestly, I had somewhat low expectations for the Foxwell NT510’s special features at first.

But then I was completely surprised!

My customer’s 2014 Audi A6 3.0 needed resetting the “service due” indicator light.

I did it using this NT510. It was simple to use and performed as promised.

Only after 5 minutes was the “service due” light completely turned off.

I last used this scanner on a 2007 Audi Q7 for a client last month.

Foxwell NT510 helped me to scan and clear the fault codes, reset the oil service indicator, and register the new battery.

All tasks were completed quickly, and my customer was not kept waiting for long to get his car back.

I’m definitely satisfied with this Foxwell NT510 scanner!

3. Perform active tests to identify the precise location of a problem.

I was impressed by Foxwell NT510’s ability to enter each vehicle system and conduct an active test to identify the precise location of a problem.

In fact, you can perform some active tests with the NT510 scanner, like turning on and off the air conditioning and raising and lowering the windows.

It is also advertised to be able to lock and unlock doors, but I have yet to test this.

The bi-directional control function makes the Foxwell NT510 an unbeatable value at this price point.

This sets it apart from other cheap scanners that can only perform simple diagnoses and scans.

What I Dislike?

1. User manual lacks detailed information about how to update and use the product.

The manufacturer should provide more information on how to update and use the product.

I could, therefore, quickly investigate how to utilize this Foxwell NT510 to its fullest potential.

Thankfully, I eventually came across a better online source

Then I could get all the information I required for effectively updating and using this scanner.

2. It’s not easy to update via computer.

You have to update it before you use it with a computer

But it’s inconvenient that you cannot update the scanner on MacOS computers.

If this is your first time updating a scanner using a PC, be ready for an hour to complete the process.

I also have difficulty connecting the unit to update.

The simplest method is to remove the SD card, insert it into a USB adapter, and then update the system.

Fortunately, the Foxwell NT510 that I received included a micro SD card reader.

For all information about how to update the Foxwell NT501, access the online manual and go to page 57 for details.

Price and Update Fee

foxwell nt510 price

In addition to the main functions of Foxwell NT510, its bi-directional control is the crucial factor making me decide to review this scanner.

With the price of $200, I think NT510 is worth the investment if you want to make your diagnostics process easier.

Furthermore, this scanner offers free lifetime updates. You can check the latest update on the Foxwell website.

Key Takeaway

Foxwell NT510 far exceeds my expectations for an under $200 Audi scanner.

It can read and erase codes in all systems, run active tests, and even code little things.

But that’s not all.

It also has more than 31+ service functions. This means you can easily do most of the routine maintenance at home.

Foxwell NT510 is ideal for home mechanics like you to perform minor and complex repairs on your VW/Audi.
