Innova 6100P vs. 6200P: Key differences

When comparing the Innova 6100P and 6200P, there aren’t many big differences because the 6200P is basically an upgraded version of the 6100P.

If you want a quick look at the differences that might affect your decision, here are two things to consider:

  • Diagnostics: While both scanners cover full OBD2 functions, the Innova 6100P can only retrieve codes from the vehicle’s 4 main systems. On the other hand, the Innova 6200P can comprehensively scan all systems and retrieve trouble codes from them.
  • Service functions: Although they offer limited service functions, Innova 6200P features an additional function compared to the Innova 6100P, totaling three service functions.

In my opinion, these two scanners are really similar. To make your decision quicker, think about what you actually need:

If you want to scan for all possible trouble codes in your car and register a new battery after replacement, the Innova 6200P is a good investment.

If you’re okay with just checking codes from the main 4 systems, the Innova 6100P will do the job.

Innova 6100P vs. 6200P: Detailed comparison

Performance

Innova 6200P can be considered an upgraded version of the 6100P, which naturally leads to both similarities and differences between these two scanners.

In terms of functionality, both of them offer the following features:

  • Full OBD2 functions, including smog check and live data.
  • Oil light reset for managing oil levels and oil life.
  • Battery/alternator test to assess their condition.

Another point worth mentioning is the Repairsolution2 app, which is included with both scanners.

It shows me detailed technical information about trouble codes, including their possible causes, suggested solutions, and the corresponding car parts involved. It is a big help and can save your diagnostic time.

However, when it comes to differences, Innova 6100P can only scan codes from the four main vehicle systems: engine, transmission, ABS, and SRS.

On the other hand, I can use Innova 6200P to read and clear codes from all available systems in cars, covering 99% of the trouble codes.

Moreover, Innova 6200P offers an extra feature that the 6100P lacks: battery reset

This feature comes in handy after I replace the vehicle’s battery, ensuring that the new battery is correctly programmed and accepted by the vehicle.

Design & Hardware

At first glance, you won’t notice any difference between the Innova 6100P and 6200P, except the scanners’ name positioned in the top right corner.

From the 2.8-inch screen to the buttons layout on the scanner, they exhibit no noticeable differences in design.

Moreover, both scanners boast a nifty design feature: a connector light that illuminates the plug. This handy feature makes it a breeze for me to locate the OBD2 port correctly, ensuring a hassle-free connection process.

Yet, their OBD2 cables are quite short, around 3 feet. This might make you uncomfortable while using the scanner from the passenger’s seat.

After-sales service

Both the Innova 6100P and 6200P offer lifetime free updates, allowing you to stay current with the latest manufacturer releases.

This ensures compatibility with new car models as they come out.

Additionally, Innova products come with a standard 1-year warranty, providing peace of mind for your purchase.

Regarding customer support, I haven’t had much experience with Innova.

But when I reached out to them for product information, the email response time was fast, around 1 day.

If you prefer a quicker response, contacting via the live chat on Amazon might be a more efficient option.

Recommendation

In a nutshell, the Innova 6100P and 6200P are nearly identical, differing only in some functions.

If you’re looking for full-system diagnostic and battery registration capabilities, the Innova 6200P is a worthwhile investment.

However, if those features aren’t a priority, the Innova 6100P, with its four-system diagnostic, will suffice for daily garage work.

Choose the one that best suits your needs and budget!
