Car Dashboard Symbols and Meanings (Yellow Warning Lights)

You’re cruising down the highway, listening to your favorite playlist, and suddenly there is a dashboard light that pops up.

And you wonder:

• What does it mean?
• What if one stays on? 
• Am I worrying over nothing?

When one of the dashboard lights comes on, an issue may need your attention.

If you choose to ignore them, you could risk your safety or end up with an expensive car repair bill.

So what should you do?

This comprehensive guide will give you the different meanings of each warning light and indicator you may be seeing on your dashboard.

Even when you don’t know the meaning of the dashboard lights, the lights’ color themselves can tell you a lot about the severity of your car’s problem. 

• Red: Urgent issue. These are for problems that cause an immediate serious danger to you or the car. If a red light appears, stop immediately. 
• Yellow: Non-urgent issue. These are fine problems with which to continue driving but they should be fixed soon. 
• Green/White/Gray/Blue: Non-issue, just a notification.

Yellow Warning Lights

Check Engine Light/ Malfunction Indicator Lamp

It is also called Engine Diagnostic Warning Lamp.

If this indicator light comes on steady or blinks while the engine is running, it may indicate a potential emission control malfunction.

The MIL may also come on steady if the fuel-filler cap is loose or missing, or if the vehicle runs out of fuel. Check to make sure the fuel-filler cap is installed and closed tightly, and that the vehicle has at least 3 gallons (11.4 liters) of fuel in the fuel tank.

After a few driving trips, the light should turn off if no other potential emission control system malfunction exists. If this indicator light comes on steady for 20 seconds and then blinks for 10 seconds when the engine is not running, it indicates that the vehicle is not ready for an emission control system inspection/maintenance test.

Operation The MIL will come on in one of two ways:

1. MIL on steady — An emission control system malfunction has been detected. Check the fuel-filler cap if the Loose Fuel Cap warning appears in the vehicle information display. If the fuel-filler cap is loose or missing, tighten or install the cap and continue to drive the vehicle. The light should turn off after a few driving trips. If the light does not turn off after a few driving trips, have the vehicle inspected. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service. You do not need to have your vehicle towed to the dealer.
2. MIL blinking — An engine misfire has been detected which may damage the emission control system. To reduce or avoid emission control system damage:
   • Don’t drive at speeds above 45 mph (72 km/h).
   • Avoid hard acceleration or deceleration.
   • Avoid steep uphill grades.
   • If possible, reduce the amount of cargo being hauled or towed.

The MIL may stop blinking and come on steady. Have the vehicle inspected. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service. You do not need to have your vehicle towed to the dealer.

Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Warning Light

When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the ABS warning light illuminates and then turns off. This indicates the ABS is operational.

If the ABS warning light illuminates while the engine is running or while driving, it may indicate the ABS is not functioning properly. Have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

If an ABS malfunction occurs, the anti-lock function is turned off. The brake system then operates normally but without antilock assistance.

Flat Tire Monitor Light

The Flat Tire Monitor signals a loss of tire inflation pressure in a tire. Reduce your speed and stop cautiously. Avoid sudden braking and steering maneuvers.

Low Tire Pressure/ Tire Pressure Monitoring System Warning Light

Your vehicle is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that monitors the tire pressure of all tires except the spare.

The low tire pressure warning light warns of low tire pressure or indicates that the TPMS is not functioning properly.

After the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, this light illuminates for about 1 second and turns off.

Low tire pressure warning

If the vehicle is being driven with low tire pressure, the warning light will illuminate. A “Tire Pressure Low – Add Air” warning also appears in the vehicle information display.

When the low tire pressure warning light illuminates, you should stop and adjust the tire pressure of all four tires to the recommended COLD tire pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label located in the driver’s door opening. The low tire pressure warning light does not automatically turn off when the tire pressure is adjusted. After the tire is inflated to the recommended pressure, the vehicle must be driven at speeds above 16 mph (25 km/h) to activate the TPMS and turn off the low tire pressure warning light. Use a tire pressure gauge to check the tire pressure.

The “Tire Pressure Low – Add Air” warning appears each time the ignition switch is placed in the ON position as long as the low tire pressure warning light remains illuminated.

TPMS malfunction

If the TPMS is not functioning properly, the low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. The light will remain on after 1 minute. Have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

The “Tire Pressure Low — Add Air” warning does not appear if the low tire pressure warning light illuminates to indicate a TPMS malfunction.

Low Fuel Indicator Light

This warning appears when the fuel level in the fuel tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as it is convenient, preferably before the fuel gauge reaches 0 (Empty). There will be a small reserve of fuel in the tank when the fuel gauge needle reaches 0 (Empty).

Tank System Warning Light

There is a malfunction in the fuel tank system. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Fuel Reserve Warning Lamp

The yellow fuel reserve warning lamp lights up while you are driving. There has been pressure loss in the fuel system. The fuel filler cap is not closed correctly or the fuel system is leaking. Close the fuel filler cap. If the fuel filler cap has already been closed correctly, consult a qualified specialist workshop.

The yellow fuel reserve warning lamp lights up while the engine is running. The fuel supply has dropped into the reserve range. Refuel.

Hydrogen Leak Indicator

Comes on for a few seconds when you set the power mode to ON, then goes off.

Comes on if a small hydrogen gas leak is detected. Your vehicle has less ability to accelerate and may be harder to start on an incline. Have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer immediately.

Comes on if a hydrogen gas leak is detected. Generating electricity by the fuel cell is stopped. Immediately stop in a safe place and have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer.

Fuel Level Sensor Failure Warning Light

This warning light will illuminate along with a dedicated message on the display if a problem is detected with the Fuel Level Sensor. If this light comes on see an authorized dealer immediately.

Fuel Cutoff Warning Light

This warning light will illuminate after an accident has occurred, and the system has shut the fuel off.

Fuel Cutoff Failure Light

This light will illuminate if there is a fuel cutoff failure. If this light illuminates, take it to an authorized dealer and have them inspect it.

Low Washer Fluid Warning Light

This warning appears when the windshield washer fluid is at a low level.

Add windshield washer fluid as necessary.

Windshield Wiper Malfunction Indicator

If the indicator light turns on, then there is a windshield wiper malfunction. The message that is also displayed indicates the cause and possible solutions. If one of the messages does not turn off, drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Indicator

It is also called Electronic Stability Control (ESC)/ Electronic Stability Program (ESP)/ Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)/ Traction Control System (TCS) Light/ Slip Indicator.

This indicator light will blink when the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system is operating, thus alerting the driver to the fact that the road surface is slippery and the vehicle is nearing its traction limits. You may feel or hear the system working; this is normal.

The light will blink for a few seconds after the VDC system stops limiting wheel spin. The indicator light also comes on when you place the ignition switch in the ON position. The light will turn off after approximately 2 seconds if the system is operational. If the light does not come on have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) OFF Indicator

It is also called Electronic Stability Control (ESC)/ Electronic Stability Program (ESP)/ Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)/ Traction Control System (TCS)/ Slip OFF Indicator.

This indicator light comes on when the VDC is turned off in the vehicle information display. This indicates the VDC has been turned off.

Turn the VDC on using the vehicle information display, or by restarting the engine.

The VDC light also comes on when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. The light will turn off after a period of time if the system is operational.

If the light stays on or comes on along with the indicator light while you are driving, have the VDC system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

Master Warning Light

When the ignition is in the ON position, the master warning light illuminates if any of the following is displayed on the vehicle information display.

• No key warning

• Low windshield-washer fluid warning

• Door open warning (when stopped)

• Trunk open warning

• Loose fuel cap

• Low tire pressure warning

• AWD warning If the master warning light illuminates and the message(s) are not visible on the vehicle information display, use the buttons located on the steering wheel to navigate the vehicle information display until the “Warnings” screen is displayed.

Service Requirement Warning Light

Service is due. Arrange a service appointment. Check the service requirements.

External Temperature Warning Light

Illuminates if the temperature falls to around +3C / 37F. A signal will sound and this warning light will come on. This is to warn you to drive cautiously. This also signifies an increased risk of sheet ice on the roads.

Bulb Failure Indicator Light

It is also called Lamp Out Indicator/ Headlight Warning Light/ Low Beam Warning Light.

This warning light illuminates if one of the exterior bulbs (headlamp, DRL, turn signal lamp, stop lamp, etc.) is not operating properly. One of the bulbs may need to be replaced.

If the vehicle is equipped with LED headlamps, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

Tail or Stop Light Out Indicator

The indicator is very self-explanatory, as it provides the driver with an indication of when the tail light is illuminated.

LED Headlight Warning Light

This warning light illuminates:

• When you set the ignition switch or the Engine Start/Stop button to the ON position.
• When there is a malfunction with the LED headlight. If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

This warning light blinks when there is a malfunction with a LED headlight related part. If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

Low-beam Headlight or Front Fog Light Failed Indicator

A low-beam headlight or front fog light has failed. Have the lights checked as soon as possible.

High-beam Headlight Failed Indicator

A high-beam headlight has failed. Have the high-beam headlights checked.

Rear Fog Light

Turns the rear fog light on.

Rear Fog Light Failed Indicator

A rear fog light has failed. Have the rear fog lights checked.

Headlight Beam Throw Adjustment Failed Indicator

The headlight beam throw adjustment has failed. Have the headlight beam throw adjustment system checked.

Adaptive Light Control Failed Indicator

The Adaptive Light Control has failed.

Brake System Indicator

It is also called Parking Brake and Brake System Indicator.

This indicator comes on if there is a problem with a system related to braking other than the conventional brake system.

• Comes on while driving – Have your vehicle checked by a dealer. With the light on, your vehicle still has normal braking ability.

This indicator comes on if there is a problem with the electric parking brake system and/or the automatic brake hold system.

• Stays on constantly – Avoid using the parking brake and have your vehicle checked by a dealer immediately.

Brake System Indicator

A high load was placed on the brakes from driving downhill for a long period of time. Follow the instructions in the message to utilize the engine braking effect and to relieve the brakes.

Recuperative Brake System Warning Lamp

The yellow Recuperative Brake System warning lamp is lit while the vehicle is running.

Adjust your speed and drive on carefully, leaving a suitable distance to the vehicle in front.

If the instrument display shows a display message, observe it.

Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Warning Light

This warning light illuminates:

• When you place the Engine Start/Stop button to the ON position. The EPB warning light illuminates for approximately 3 seconds and then turns off.

• Whenever there is a malfunction with the EPB. If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

Parking Brake Malfunction Light

It is also called Electric Parking Brake System Indicator on Honda and Acura vehicles.

There is a malfunction in the parking brake. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected. Do not park the vehicle on inclines and secure it against rolling before exiting the vehicle.

Parking Lock System Warning Light

Indicates a malfunction in the shift control system

• In this situation, there is a possibility that the parking lock mechanism will not work. When parking, park the vehicle on a flat surface and apply the parking brake securely.

• The power switch may not be turned off. If this happens, applying the parking brake will enable the switch to be turned off.

Have the vehicle inspected by your dealer immediately.

Service Electric Parking Brake Light

This light should come on briefly when the vehicle is turned on. If it does not come on, have it fixed so it will be ready to warn if there is a problem.

If this light stays on or comes on while driving, there is a problem with the Electric Parking Brake (EPB). Take the vehicle to a dealer as soon as possible. In addition to the parking brake, other safety functions that utilize the EPB may also be degraded. A message may also display in the Driver Information Center (DIC).

System Message Indicator

The indicator comes on along with a beep when a problem is detected. A system message on the driver information interface appears at the same time.

Auto Start-Stop Indicator

Blinks if there is a problem with the Auto Start-Stop system.

Have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

Auto Start-Stop OFF Indicator

Comes on when the Auto Idle Stop system has been turned off by the Auto Start-Stop OFF button.

Service Stop/Start System Warning Light

This warning light will illuminate when the Stop/Start system is not functioning properly and service is required.

Contact an authorized dealer for service.

SPORT Mode Indicator

Comes on when you set the drive mode to SPORT.

Cruise Control Light

Indicates a malfunction in the cruise control.

Follow the instructions displayed on the multi-information display.

Speed Control Fault Warning Light

It is also called Cruise Control System Fault Indicator.

This warning light will illuminate to indicate the Speed Control System is not functioning properly and service is required.

Contact an authorized dealer.

Speed Limiter Indicator

The set speed limit was exceeded.

Engine Speed Limited Warning Light

If the indicator light turns on, the engine will be automatically limited to the RPM displayed in the instrument cluster. This will protect the engine components, for example during a cold start or from overheating.

Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) Indicator

Indicates a malfunction in the Proactive Driving Assist (PDA).

Follow the instructions displayed on the multi-information display.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Indicator

It is also called the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control indicator on Toyota cars.

If the indicator light is displayed when there is a malfunction, the adaptive cruise assist functions may be unavailable or limited.

A message that indicates the cause and possible solution may appear with some displays.

The weather conditions may be too poor or a sensor may be covered. Clean the area in front of the sensors and try to turn on the systems again later.

If the malfunction remains, drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Service Adaptive Cruise Control Warning Light

This light will turn on when the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is not operating and needs service.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Indicator

The LKA light is amber when assisting. This light flashes amber as a Lane Departure Warning (LDW) alert, to indicate that the lane marking has been unintentionally crossed. If the system detects that the vehicle has been steered intentionally across a lane marker, the LDW may not be given.
Do not expect the LDW to occur when intentionally crossing the lane marker. LKA will not assist or alert if the turn signal is active in the direction of lane departure, or if LKA detects that you are accelerating, braking, or actively steering.

Front Assist OFF Indicator

Front Assist switched off.

Land Assist Indicator

Lane Assist switched on, not active.

Blind Spot Information System Indicator

It is also called Side Assist, Exit Warning/ Blind Spot Monitor Indicator/ BSD/RCTA Indicator.

When the blind spot information system detects a vehicle, an alert indicator illuminates in the exterior mirror on the side the approaching vehicle is coming from. If you turn the turn signal on for that side of your vehicle, the alert indicator flashes.

BSM Digital Side-view Monitor Indicator

When a vehicle is detected in a blind spot of the Digital Side-view Monitor cameras or approaching rapidly from behind into a blind spot, the Digital Side-view Monitor indicator on the detected side will illuminate.
If the turn signal lever is operated toward the detected side, the Digital Side-view Monitor indicator will flash.

RCTA OFF Indicator

When a buzzer sounds: Indicates a malfunction in the RCTA (Rear Crossing Traffic Alert) function. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized dealer immediately.

When a buzzer does not sound: Indicates that the rear bumper around the radar sensor is covered with dirt, etc. Follow the instructions displayed on the multi-information display.

Cross Traffic Alert Indicator

When the system detects an approaching vehicle a tone sounds, the indicator illuminates in the relevant exterior mirror and arrows appear in the information display to show which side the approaching vehicle is coming from.

Blind Spot Detection/ Rear Cross Traffic Alert (BSD/ RCTA) OFF Indicator

This indicator appears on the combination meter display when “BSD/ RCTA” is touched to deactivate the BSD (Blind Spot Detection) and RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert), or when the BSD/ RCTA is suspended temporarily.

Pre-Sense Indicator

If the indicator light is displayed when there is a malfunction, the pre-sense functions may be unavailable or may be limited. A message that indicates the cause and possible solution may appear with some displays.

The weather conditions may be too poor or a sensor may be covered. Bring the vehicle to a full stop, switch the ignition off, and clean the area in front of the sensors.

If the message still appears after switching the ignition on again, have an authorized repair facility correct the malfunction as soon as possible.

Emergency Assist Indicator

If the indicator light is displayed when there is a malfunction, the emergency assist functions may be unavailable or may be limited.

A message that indicates the cause and possible solution may appear with some displays.

The weather conditions may be too poor or a sensor may be covered. Clean the area in front of the sensors and try to turn the system on again later.

If the malfunction remains, drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) Indicator

Comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to ON, then goes off.

Comes on if there is a problem with the RDM system.

Stays on constantly – Have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

Comes on if the RDM is deactivated temporarily after the battery has been disconnected, then re-connected. Drive a short distance at more than 12 mph (20 km/h). The indicator should go off. If it does not, have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

Comes on when the RDM system shuts itself off. Indicator may come on temporarily when passing through an enclosed space, such as a tunnel. The area around the radar sensor is blocked by dirt, mud, etc. Stop your vehicle in a safe place, and wipe it off with a soft cloth. Indicator may take some time to go off after the radar sensor is cleaned. Have your vehicle checked by a dealer if the indicator does not go off even after you clean the sensor cover.

Stays on – The temperature inside the camera is too high. Use the climate control system to cool down the camera. The system activates when the temperature inside the camera cools down.

Stays on – The area around the camera is blocked by dirt, mud, etc. Stop your vehicle in a safe place, and wipe it off with a soft cloth. Have your vehicle checked by a dealer if the indicator and message come back on after you cleaned the area around the camera.

Indicator may come on temporarily when the Maximum Load Limit is exceeded. Make sure the total load is within the Maximum Load Limit.

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Indicator

It is also called Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)/ Forward Emergency Braking (FEB)/ Forward Collision Warning (FCW)/ Smart Brake Support (SBS) System Indicator.

Comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to ON, then goes off.

Comes on when you deactivate the CMBS. A driver information interface message appears for five seconds.

Comes on if there is a problem with the CMBS.

Stays on constantly without the CMBS off – Have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

Comes on if the CMBS is deactivated temporarily after the battery has been disconnected, then re-connected. Drive a short distance at more than 12 mph (20 km/h). The indicator should go off. If it does not, have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

Comes on when the CMBS shuts itself off.

Stays on – The area around the camera is blocked by dirt, mud, etc. Stop your vehicle in a safe place, and wipe it off with a soft cloth. Have your vehicle checked by a dealer if the indicator does not go off even after you cleaned the camera.

Indicator may come on temporarily when passing through an enclosed space, such as a tunnel. The area around the radar sensor is blocked by dirt, mud, etc. Stop your vehicle in a safe place, and wipe it off with a soft cloth. Indicator may take some time to go off after the radar sensor is cleaned. Have your vehicle checked by a dealer if the indicator does not go off even after you clean the sensor cover.

Stays on – The temperature inside the camera is too high. Use the climate control system to cool down the camera. The system activates when the temperature inside the camera cools down.

Indicator may come on temporarily when the Maximum Load Limit is exceeded. Make sure the total load is within the Maximum Load Limit.

Forward Collision Warning OFF Indicator Light

It is also called Pre-Crash Safety (PCS) OFF/ Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) OFF Indicator.

This indicator light illuminates to indicate that Forward Collision Warning is off.

Service Forward Collision (FCW) Warning Light

This warning light will illuminate to indicate a fault in the FCW System.

Contact an authorized dealer for service.

Safety Support Indicator

Comes on if there is a problem with Road Departure Mitigation system, CMBS, Low Speed Braking Control or Blind Spot Information system.

Stays on constantly – Have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

Indicator may come on temporarily when the Maximum Load Limit is exceeded. Make sure the total load is within the Maximum Load Limit.

Comes on if the Road Departure Mitigation system, CMBS and Low Speed Braking Control are deactivated temporarily afterthe battery has been disconnected and then re-connected. Drive a short distance at more than 12 mph (20 km/h). The indicator should go off. If it does not, have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

Comes on when the Road Departure Mitigation system and/or CMBS shuts itself off.

Stays on – The temperature inside the camera is too high. Use the climate control system to cool down the camera. The system activates when the temperature inside the camera cools down.

Stays on – The area around the camera is blocked by dirt, mud, etc. Stop your vehicle in a safe place and wipe the debris off with a soft cloth. Have your vehicle checked by a dealer if the indicator and message are still displayed even after you have cleaned the area around the camera.

It may come on when the ambient conditions are dark, such as when driving in a tunnel, or at night, dawn, or dusk.

Distance Warning Light

If the indicator light is displayed when there is a malfunction, the distance warning functions may be unavailable or may be limited. A message that indicates the cause and possible solution may appear with some displays.

The weather conditions may be too poor or a sensor may be covered. Clean the area in front of the sensors and try to turn the system on again later.

If the malfunction remains, drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) Indicator

Indicates a malfunction in the LTA (Lane Tracing Assist). Follow the instructions displayed on the multi-information display.

“LTA Malfunction Visit Your Dealer” The system may not be operating properly. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized dealer.

“LTA Unavailable” The system is temporarily canceled due to a malfunction in a sensor other than the front camera. Turn the LTA system off, wait for a little while, and then turn the LTA system back on.

“LTA Unavailable at Current Speed” The function cannot be used as the vehicle speed exceeds the LTA operation range. Drive slower.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) Light

It is also called Lane Departure Alert (LDA)/ Active Lane Management Warning Light.

The Lane Departure Warning Light will be solid yellow when the vehicle is approaching a lane marker. The warning light will flash when the vehicle is crossing the lane marker.

Service Lane Departure Warning Light

It is also called Service LaneSense Warning Light/ Service Active Lane Management Warning Light.

This warning light will illuminate when the system is not operating and requires service. Please contact an authorized dealer.

Parking System Indicator

It is also called Ultrasonic Parking Sensor Light/ Sonar Audible Alarm OFF Indicator.

If the indicator light is displayed when there is a malfunction, the parking aid functions may be unavailable or may be limited. A message that indicates the cause and possible solution may appear with some displays.

The weather conditions may be too poor or a sensor may be covered. Clean the area in front of the sensors and try to turn on the systems again later.

If the malfunction remains, drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Park Distance Control Failed Indicator

The Park Distance Control has failed. Have the system checked.

Park Assist Indicator

It is also called Sonar Audible Alarm OFF Indicator.

If the indicator light turns on, the park assist is not available or was interrupted. A message that indicates the cause and possible solution may appear with some displays.

The weather conditions may be too poor or a sensor may be covered. Clean the area in front of the sensors and try to turn the system on again later.

If the malfunction remains, drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Rear Cross-traffic Assist Indicator

If the indicator light is displayed when there is a malfunction, the rear cross traffic assist functions may be unavailable or may be limited. A message that indicates the cause and possible solution may appear with some displays.

The weather conditions may be too poor or a sensor may be covered. Clean the area of the sensors at the rear corners of the vehicle and try to turn the system on again later.

If the malfunction remains, drive to an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Rear Automatic Braking (RAB) Warning Light

This light comes on when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. It turns off after the engine is started.

This light illuminates when the RAB system is turned off in the vehicle information display.

If the light illuminates when the RAB system is on, it may indicate that the system is unavailable.

Rear Automatic Braking (RAB) OFF Warning Light

It is also called Parking Support Brake (PKSB) Light.

This light comes on when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. It turns off after the engine is started.

This light illuminates when the RAB system is turned off in the vehicle information display.

If the light illuminates when the RAB system is on, it may indicate that the system is unavailable.

Emergency Call Function Indicator

“Emergency call function: malfunction! Limited availability. Please contact Service”

If this indicator light turns on and this message appears, the emergency call function is restricted. For example, you cannot call the emergency call center, but data may still be transmitted under certain circumstances. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

“Emergency call function: malfunction! Function unavailable. Please contact Service”

If this indicator light turns on and this message appears, you cannot make an emergency call. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

FCA/ACC Following Gap Light

If equipped, this light indicates the following gap setting (near, medium, or far) for Forward Collision Alert (FCA), and, if equipped, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

All Wheel Drive (AWD) Indicator

This warning light illuminates:

• When you set the ignition switch or the Engine Start/Stop button to the ON position. The All Wheel Drive warning light illuminates for about 3 seconds and then goes off.
• Whenever there is a malfunction with the AWD system. If this occurs, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

All Wheel Drive LOCK Indicator

This indicator light illuminates:

• When you set the ignition switch or the Engine Start/Stop button to the ON position. The AWD LOCK indicator light illuminates for about 3 seconds and then goes off.
• When you select AWD Lock mode by pressing the AWD LOCK button. The AWD LOCK mode is to transfer a portion of the drive torque to the rear wheels for increased traction on wet pavement, snow covered roads or when driving off road.

POWER SYSTEM Indicator

Comes on if there is a problem with the electric vehicle system.

Comes on when the High Voltage battery temperature becomes high.

Electric Vehicle (EV) System Warning Light

It is also called Hybrid System Warning Light.

This light illuminates if there is a malfunction in the following systems. Have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

• Traction motor and inverter system

• Charge port or on-board charger

• Li-ion battery system

• Cooling system

• Shift control system

• Emergency shut off system is activated.

High Voltage Battery

It illuminates if your vehicle has an electrical component fault or failure that causes your vehicle to shut down or enter a limited operating mode. A message may appear in the instrument cluster display.

Hybrid System Overheat Warning Light

Indicates the hybrid system has overheated. Stop the vehicle in a safe place.

Handling method:

• Stop the vehicle in a safe place.

• Stop the hybrid system and carefully lift the hood.

• After the hybrid system has cooled down, inspect the hoses and radiator core (radiator) for any leaks.

Brake Depressing Indicator

Comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to ON, then goes off.

Electric Parking Brake System

• Comes on when the electric parking brake switch is pressed without depressing the brake pedal while the electric parking brake is in operation.
• Comes on while driving – Press the electric parking brake switch with the brake pedal depressed.

Automatic Brake Hold System

• Comes on when the automatic brake hold button is pressed without depressing the brake pedal while the automatic brake hold is in operation.
• Blinks if the automatic brake hold is automatically canceled while it is in operation. The beeper sounds.
• Comes on while driving – Press the automatic brake hold button with the brake pedal depressed. Immediately depress the brake pedal.

Brake Hold Operated Indicator

Indicates a malfunction in the brake hold system. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.

Smart Entry System Indicator

It is also called Keyless Access System Indicator.

Comes on for a few seconds when you set the power mode to ON, then goes off.

Comes on as soon as a problem is detected in the smart entry system or push button starting system.

Stays on constantly or does not come on at all – Have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

Maintenance Minder Indicator

It is also called Wrench Indicator Light.

The light comes on when the scheduled maintenance is due soon.

Maintenance Required Reminder Light

Indicates that maintenance is required according to the driven distance on the maintenance schedule.

Illuminates for about 3 seconds and then flashes for about 15 seconds approximately 4500 miles (7200 km) after the reminder light has been reset. If necessary, perform maintenance.

Comes on and remains on if the distance driven exceeds 5000 miles (8000 km) after the reminder light has been reset. (The indicator will not work properly unless the reminder light has been reset.) Perform the necessary maintenance. Please reset the reminder light after the maintenance is performed.

Service Vehicle Soon Light

For vehicles with this light, it comes on if a condition exists that may require the vehicle to be taken in for service. If the light comes on, take the vehicle to your dealer for service as soon as possible.

Owner Manual Indicator

This symbol is shown when you need to see the owner’s manual for additional instructions or information.

Cargo Light

It is also called Bed Lights On Indicator.

This indicator light will illuminate when the cargo light is activated by pushing the cargo light button on the headlight switch.

Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) System Indicator

Comes on for a few seconds when you set the power mode to ON, then goes off.

If it comes on at any other time, there is a problem with the Precision AllWheel Steer (P-AWS) system.

Comes on while driving – Have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

The system may limit the vehicle speed to 50 mph (80 km/h) or less.

Brake Wear Indicator

Comes on for a few seconds when you change the power mode to ON, then goes off.

Comes on if a worn brake pad is detected.

Comes on while driving – The brake pads may need to be replaced. Have your vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

Drive System Malfunction Warning Light

There is a malfunction in the drive system. Drive slowly to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction corrected.

Driver’s Door Malfunction Warning Light

There is a malfunction in the driver’s door. Secure the vehicle before exiting by selecting the “P” selector lever position. Drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

Key Fob Battery Low Warning Light

If the indicator light appears with a corresponding message, the vehicle key battery is drained and must be replaced.

Key Fob Malfunction Indicator

It is also called Engine Start System Malfunction Indicator.

There is a malfunction in the engine start system. Drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

Access Key Warning Indicator

The keyless access with push-button start system is equipped with a warning chime and the access key warning indicator in order to minimize improper operations and help protect your vehicle from theft.

When the warning chime sounds and/or the warning indicator appears, take the appropriate action.

You cannot turn the warning chimes off. However, the volume setting of the outside warning chime can be changed by a dealer. Consult your dealer for details.

Key Not Detected Indicator

The vehicle key was removed from the vehicle while the engine is running. If the vehicle key is no longer in the vehicle, you cannot switch the ignition on or start the engine once you stop it. You also cannot lock the vehicle from the outside.

Applies to vehicles with connect key: The vehicle key and the smartphone were removed from the vehicle while the engine is running. If the vehicle key and smartphone are no longer in the vehicle, you cannot switch the ignition on or restart the engine once you stop the engine. You also cannot lock the vehicle from the outside.

Smart Entry & Start System Indicator

When starting the hybrid system, Smart Entry & Start System Indicator and a message will be displayed on the multi-information display. If it is not displayed, the hybrid system cannot be started.

Adaptive Light Malfunction Indicator

Adaptive light is not working. The headlights still function. Drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

Headlight Range Control System Malfunction Indicator

There is a malfunction in the headlight range control system, which may cause glare for other drivers. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Automatic Headlight Leveling System Warning Light

Indicates a malfunction in the automatic headlight leveling system.

Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer immediately.

Light/ Rain Sensor Malfunction Indicator

The light/rain sensor is malfunctioning. When the AUTO light function is on, the low beams will remain switched on at all times for safety reasons. Drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

Safety System Malfunction Indicator

It is also called Airbag And Safety Belt Pretensioner Malfunction Indicator.

The indicator light in the instrument cluster monitors the safety systems such as the airbags (including the control modules, sensor, and wiring) and the belt tensioners. It turns on when you switch the ignition on and turns off after several seconds.

If the indicator light does not turn on when the ignition is switched on, does not turn off after several seconds, or turns on or flashes while driving, there may be a malfunction in one of the safety systems. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have the malfunction corrected.

Downhill Brake Control (DBC) Indicator Light

It is also called Hill Descent Control Light.

This indicator light illuminates:

• When you set the ignition switch or the Engine Start/Stop button to the ON position. The Downhill Brake Control Indicator Light illuminates for about 3 seconds and then goes off.
• When you activate the system by pressing the DBC button.

This indicator light blinks:

• When the DBC is operating. This indicator light illuminates yellow:
• When there is a malfunction with the DBC system. If this occurs, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

Hill Hold Assist Unavailable Indicator

The hill hold assist is temporarily unavailable. Press the brake pedal to secure the vehicle from rolling away unintentionally.

Hill Start Assist Warning Light

While the engine is running, if there are any malfunctions in the Hill start assist system, the warning light will illuminate.

When the Hill start assist warning light illuminates, have the vehicle inspected at an authorized dealer.

Transmission Warning Light

This light warns of the following malfunctions.

Transmission system malfunction: The light blinks if a malfunction in the transmission system occurs. If the light blinks, certain gear positions may become unusable, so that the vehicle may become undrivable. It is recommended you have the system inspected promptly by a dealer.

Transmission oil temperature high: The light illuminates if the transmission oil temperature becomes unusually high. If the light illuminates, avoid driving at high speed or at high engine speed until the light turns off. The light will turn off after a short period of time and the vehicle can then be driven normally. If the light illuminates frequently, it is recommended you contact a dealer.

Transmission Malfunction Indicator

Automatic selector lever locked: The selector lever is locked in position P with the engine running or the ignition switched on and the brake depressed. Have the system checked as soon as possible. Manually unlock the selector lever lock.

The brake signal is malfunctioning: a gear can be engaged without depressing the brake. To engage a gear while the vehicle is at a standstill, always depress the brake. Before leaving the vehicle, move the selector lever to position P and switch off the engine.

Transmission Temperature Warning Light

The transmission is too hot. Avoid high engine loads. You can continue your journey, but moderate your speed and exercise due caution.

Automatic Transmission Warning Light

It is also called Automatic Transmission (AT) Check Warning Light

The indication/light illuminates when the transmission has a problem.

Suspension Control Malfunction Light

It is also called Adaptive Chassis Control Malfunction Light.

There is a malfunction in the adaptive chassis control DCC system. See an authorized dealer for assistance. You can continue driving.

Electric Power Steering Warning Light

It is also called Steering Malfunction Light.

When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the electric power steering warning light illuminates. After starting the engine, the electric power steering warning light turns off. This indicates the electric power steering system is operational.

If the electric power steering warning light illuminates while the engine is running, it may indicate the electric power steering system is not functioning properly and may need servicing. Have the electric power steering system checked by a dealer.

When the electric power steering warning light illuminates with the engine running, the power assist to the steering will cease operation but you will still have control of the vehicle. At this time, greater steering efforts are required to operate the steering wheel, especially in sharp turns and at low speeds.

Rear Axle Steering Warning Lamp

The yellow rear axle steering warning lamp is lit while the vehicle is running.

The rear axle steering is malfunctioning. Note the messages on the driver’s display.

Steering Lock Malfunction Light

There is a malfunction in the electronic steering lock. Drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

Steering Intervention Request

If the lane departure warning intervenes multiple times when no steering activity is detected, the steering intervention request will provide a warning using audio and visual signals. Take over the steering and keep your hands on the steering wheel so that you will be ready to steer at any time.

The system may no longer be ready to provide warnings after a short time, and it will only become active again later. If the driver does not take over steering, the lane departure warning will no longer be ready to provide warnings. If the vehicle is equipped with emergency assist and it is ready to function, it will be activated.

Steering Assistant

The indicator light lights up and an acoustic signal may sound: a system interruption is imminent.

The indicator warning light flashes: lane marking driven over.

Engine Oil Level (MIN) Light

You may continue driving for the time being. Check the engine oil level as soon as possible. If the engine oil level is correct and the indicator light still turns on, drive at low engine speed to an authorized dealer.

Engine Oil Sensor Light

“Oil level sensor: oil change necessary. Please contact Service”

Fuel has entered the engine oil. This will cause the engine oil level to rise slowly and the engine oil quality to decrease. Do not extract engine oil to reduce the level, because this will increase the risk of engine damage. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately to have engine oil extracted.

“Oil level system: malfunction! Please contact Service”

The sensor that checks the engine oil level has malfunctioned. Drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

“Oil pressure sensor: malfunction! Please contact Service”

The sensor that checks the engine oil pressure has malfunctioned. Drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

Engine Warm-up Request Light

Especially low outside temperatures are a main reason why fuel may get into the engine oil. The fuel can only evaporate from the engine oil if the engine oil temperature is high enough.

Drive in the “S” gear. Drive the engine at higher RPMs while avoiding full acceleration. You should drive for at least 30 minutes. The indicator light may not turn off during this time.

Repeat the steps that are described at any time. Have an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility repair the malfunction if the indicator light does not turn off after a few drives.

Electrical System Warning Light

“Electrical system: malfunction! Restart not possible. Please contact Service”

If you switch the ignition off, you will not be able to restart the vehicle. Vehicle functions or driving stability may be limited. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately.

“Electrical system: malfunction! Please contact Service”

Switch off all electrical equipment that is not needed. If necessary, some equipment will be switched off automatically. Vehicle functions or driving stability may be limited. Drive to an authorized dealer immediately.

“Electrical system: malfunction! Please let engine run while vehicle is stationary. See owner’s manual”

Do not continue driving. The charge level of the vehicle battery may be very low. Let the engine run at idle for a few minutes until the indicator light turns off. Only in this way will the vehicle battery be charged enough again. If the message does not turn off after approximately five minutes, switch the engine off and see an authorized dealer for assistance.

“Electrical system: low battery charge. Battery will be charged while driving”

The starting ability may be impaired. If this message turns off after a little while, the vehicle battery has charged enough while driving. If the message does not turn off, drive immediately to an authorized dealer to have the malfunction repaired.

Electronic Power Control (EPC) Warning Light

It is also called Engine Control Malfunction Light.

The Electronic Power Control (EPC) warning light indicates a problem with your vehicle’s throttle system, which could include the accelerator pedal, fuel injection throttle body, traction control, cruise control, or other systems.

Check Gas Cap Indicator

It is also called Check Fuel Cap Indicator.

This warning light will illuminate when the fuel filler cap is loose. Properly close the filler cap to disengage the light.

If the light does not turn off, please see an authorized dealer.

Roadside Parking Light Indicator

The roadside parking lamps are still on. Switch off the roadside parking lights.

Car On Lift Warning Light

Brake light control failed or The fuel supply is malfunctioning.

You can continue your journey, but moderate your speed and exercise due caution. Transmission limp-home program with reduced acceleration is active. Have the system checked immediately.

Roll Away Potential Indicator

Selector lever position P not engaged. The vehicle is not secured against rolling.

Convertible Top Control Failed Indicator

Convertible top drive overheated! Allow the convertible top drive to cool.

Sliding Convertible Top Indicator

Failure of the convertible top/sliding sunroof control. Close the convertible top/sliding sunroof manually. Contact your service center.

Trunk Cover Indicator

The convertible top cannot be operated. Move the trunk cover into the required position.

Rear Spoiler Indicator

The rear spoiler is extended. Before driving into the car wash, retract the rear spoiler.

Active Cruise Control Indicator Light

The number bars shows the selected distance from the vehicle driving ahead.

Vehicle detection, Active Cruise Control Indicator Light

Indicator lamp illuminates: a vehicle has been detected ahead of you.

Indicator lamp flashes: the conditions are not adequate for the system to work. The system was deactivated but applies the brakes until you actively resume control by pressing on the brake pedal or accelerator pedal.

Vehicle Ahead Indicator

If equipped, this indicator will display green when a vehicle is detected ahead and amber when you are following a vehicle ahead much too closely.

Pedestrian Ahead Indicator

If equipped, this indicator will display amber when a nearby pedestrian is detected in front of the vehicle.

Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians (VSP) OFF Indicator Light

It is also called Acoustic Pedestrian Protection Inactive Indicator.

This light comes on if there is a malfunction in the Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians (VSP) system.

Reduced Power Warning Light

It is also called Power Limitation Indicator Light/ Output Control Warning Light.

When the power limitation indicator light is illuminated, the power provided to the traction motor is reduced. Therefore the vehicle is not as responsive when the accelerator is depressed while the power limitation light is illuminated.

When this light comes on, the warning display appears within the vehicle information display. Follow the instructions provided on the vehicle information display.

• This light illuminates in the following conditions.
• Li-ion battery available charge is extremely low
• Li-ion battery temperature is very low (approximately −4°F (−20°C)
• When the temperature of the EV system is high (motor, inverter, coolant system, Li-ion battery etc.)
• When the EV system has a malfunction. If the low battery charge indicator is illuminated, charge the Li-ion battery as soon as possible.

If this indicator illuminates because the Liion battery is cold due to low outside temperatures, move the vehicle to a warmer location. The Li-ion battery temperature may be increased by charging the Li-ion battery.

If the light illuminates when the EV system becomes hot due to continuous hill climbing, either continue driving at a slower safe speed or stop the vehicle in a safe location. If this indicator does not turn off, have the system checked. It is recommended that you visit a dealer for this service.

The indicator illuminates when a part in the EV system has malfunctioned. If the indicator illuminates in a situation other than those described above, or if it does not turn off, there may be a system malfunction. Have the system checked by a dealer for this service.

Low Coolant Level Warning Light

The yellow coolant warning lamp is lit while the engine is running.

Possible causes:

• The temperature sensor is malfunctioning
• The charge air, transmission oil or battery cooling is faulty
• The radiator shutters are blocked or defective

Avoiding high loads on the engine, drive to the nearest qualified specialist workshop.

ATTENTION ASSIST Warning Lamp

ATTENTION ASSIST has detected fatigue or an increasing lack of concentration on the part of the driver. If necessary, take a break.

ATTENTION ASSIST is malfunctioning. Consult a qualified specialist workshop.

DRIFT MODE Warning Lamp

DRIFT MODE is activated while the engine is running.

Observe the notes on activating DRIFT MODE.

Occupant Presence Reminder Warning Lamp

The yellow occupant presence reminder warning lamp is lit.

The occupant presence reminder is malfunctioning.

Note the messages on the driver’s display.

ESP BAS Indicator Light

The malfunction indicator lamp for the ESP is combined with the BAS indicator. The yellow”ESP/BAS Warning Lamp” in the instrument cluster comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position. It should go out with the engine running.

If the “ESP/BAS Warning Lamp” comes on continuously with the engine running, a malfunction has been detected in either the ESP or the BAS system, or both.

If this light remains on after several ignition cycles, and the vehicle has been driven several miles at speeds greater than 30mph (48 km/h), see your authorized dealer as soon as possible to have the problem diagnosed and corrected.

Security Light

It is also called Immobilizer Fail / VPS Electrical Alarm Indicator Light.

The security light should come on briefly as the engine is started. If it does not come on, have the vehicle serviced by your dealer. If the system is working normally, the indicator light turns off.

If the light stays on and the engine does not start, there could be a problem with the theft-deterrent system.

Towing Hook Breakdown Warning Light

This light illuminates when there is a failure with the tow hook. Contact an authorized dealer for service.

Trailer Merge Assist Indicator Light.

This indicator light will illuminate to indicate when Trailer Merge Assist has been activated.

Tow/ Haul Mode Light

For vehicles with the Tow/Haul Mode feature, this light comes on when the Tow/ Haul Mode has been activated.

Trailer Sway Control Light

This light will flash when Trailer Sway Control is active.

Trail Control Light

It illuminates when you switch the system on.

Air Suspension Active Indicator Light

This light will illuminate when the air suspension system is actively adjusting the ride height.

Air Suspension Fault Warning Light

This light will illuminate when a fault is detected with the air suspension system.

Front And Rear Axle Lock Indicator Light

This light indicates when the front, rear, or both axles have been locked. The telltale will display the lock icon on the front and rear axles to indicate the current lock status.

Axle Locker Fault Indicator Light

This light indicates when the front and/or rear axle locker fault has been detected.

Rear Axle Lock Indicator Light

It is also called Electronic Locking Differential/ Rear Differential Lock Indicator Light.

This light indicates when the rear axle lock has been activated.

Rear Axle Locker Fault Indicator Light

This warning light will illuminate to indicate when a rear axle locker fault has been detected.

Service 4WD Warning Light

This warning light will illuminate to signal a fault with the 4WD system.

If the light stays on or comes on during driving, it means that the 4WD system is not functioning properly and that service is required. We recommend you drive to the nearest service center and have the vehicle serviced immediately.

4WD Indicator Light

This light alerts the driver that the vehicle is in the four-wheel drive mode, and the front and rear driveshafts are mechanically locked together forcing the front and rear wheels to rotate at the same speed.

4WD Shift Indicator Light

The light should turn off within 1 second after placing the ignition switch in the ON position. While the engine is running, the 4WD shift indicator light will illuminate the position selected by the 4WD shift switch.

The 4WD shift indicator light may blink while shifting from one drive mode to the other.

4WD Lock Indicator Light

This light alerts the driver that the vehicle is in the 4WD LOCK mode. The front and rear driveshafts are mechanically locked together, forcing the front and rear wheels to rotate at the same speed.

4WD Low Indicator Light

This light alerts the driver that the vehicle is in the 4WD Low mode. The front and rear driveshafts are mechanically locked together forcing the front and rear wheels to rotate at the same speed. Low range provides a greater gear reduction ratio to provide increased torque at the wheels.

4WD High Indicator Light

This light alerts the driver that the vehicle is in the 4WD High mode. The front and rear driveshafts are mechanically locked together forcing the front and rear wheels to rotate at the same speed.

NEUTRAL Indicator Light

This light alerts the driver that the 4WD power transfer case is in the NEUTRAL mode and the front and rear driveshafts are disengaged from the powertrain.

4WD Part-Time Indicator Light

This light alerts the driver that the vehicle is in the Four-Wheel Drive part-time mode, and the front and rear driveshafts are mechanically locked together forcing the front and rear wheels to rotate at the same speed.

Two-Wheel Drive High Indicator Light

Momentarily illuminates when two-wheel drive high is selected.

Four-Wheel Drive Auto Indicator Light

Continuously illuminates when four-wheel drive auto is selected.

4WD Over Temperature Warning Light

The icon will appear on the instrument panel display to indicate overheating of the 4WD system. The mode selected by the user will be applied as soon as the system exits the overheating condition.

Diesel Exhaust Brake Indicator Light

This indicator light will illuminate when the Diesel Exhaust Brake has been activated, and is in full strength mode.

Automatic Regen Control OFF Light

If the diesel particulate filter is near or at saturation, a message requesting permission to initiate filter cleaning appears in the information display.

Low Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Indicator Light

The Low DEF Indicator will illuminate if the vehicle is low on Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).

Wait To Start Light

It is also called Preglow Indicator Light.

This indicator light will illuminate for approximately two seconds when the ignition is turned to the RUN position. Its duration may be longer based on colder operating conditions. Vehicle will not initiate start until telltale is no longer displayed.

Water In Fuel Indicator Light

The “Water In Fuel Indicator Light” will illuminate when there is water detected in the fuel filter.

If this light remains on, DO NOT start the vehicle before you drain the water from the fuel filter to prevent engine damage, and please see an authorized dealer.

Cold Ambient Derate Mode Indicator Light

This indicator light will illuminate when a derate (engine power reduction) is activated for protection of the turbocharger in cold ambient temperatures.

Sway Bar Fault Warning Light

This light will illuminate when there is a fault in the sway bar disconnect system.

Sway Bar Indicator Light

This indicator light will illuminate when the front sway bar is disconnected.

AdBlue® (UREA) Injection System Failure Warning Light

This warning light will illuminate along with a dedicated message on the display (if equipped) if an unknown fluid not conforming with acceptable characteristics is inserted, or if an average consumption of AdBlue® (UREA) over 50% is detected. Contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible.

If the problem is not solved, a specific message will appear on the instrument cluster display whenever a certain threshold is reached until it will no longer be possible to start the engine.

When about 125 miles (200 km) are remaining before the AdBlue® (UREA) tank is empty, a continuous dedicated message will appear on the instrument panel, accompanied by a chime.

Snowplow Mode Indicator Light

This indicator light will illuminate when Snowplow Mode has been activated.

Air Suspension Payload Protection Indicator Light

This indicator light will illuminate to indicate that the maximum payload may have been exceeded or load leveling cannot be achieved at its current ride height.

Protection Mode will automatically be selected to “protect” the air suspension system, air suspension adjustment is limited due to payload.

Air Suspension Alternate Trailer Height Indicator Light

This light will illuminate when the air suspension system is set to the Alternate Trailer Height setting.

Air Suspension Bed Lowering Mode Indicator Light

This light will illuminate when the Bed Lowering Mode procedure is complete.

Air Suspension Ride Height Raising Indicator Light

This light will blink and alert the driver that the vehicle is changing to a higher ride height.

Air Suspension Ride Height Lowering Indicator Light

This light will blink and alert the driver that the vehicle is changing to a lower ride height.

Passenger Airbag Status Indicator

When the vehicle is started, the passenger airbag status indicator will light ON and OFF, or the symbol for on and off, for several seconds as a system check. Then, after several more seconds, the status indicator will light either ON or OFF, or either the on or off symbol, to let you know the status of the front outboard passenger frontal airbag.

If the word ON, or the on symbol, is lit on the passenger airbag status indicator, it means that the front outboard passenger frontal airbag is allowed to inflate.

If the word OFF, or the off symbol, is lit on the passenger airbag status indicator, it means that the passenger sensing system has turned off the front outboard passenger frontal airbag.

If, after several seconds, both status indicator lights remain on, or if there are no lights at all, there may be a problem with the lights or the passenger sensing system. See your dealer for service.

Active Driving Assist – Driver Inattentiveness Warning Light

This light illuminates when driver inattentiveness has been detected, warning the driver to place their hands on the steering wheel.

Active Driving Assist Fault Warning Light

This light will turn on when the Active Driving Assist system has detected a fault.

Night Vision Animal Warning Light

The Night Vision Animal Warning Light will illuminate in yellow when an animal is approaching or is in the vehicle’s path.

Night Vision Pedestrian Warning Light

The Night Vision Pedestrian Warning Light will illuminate in yellow when a pedestrian is approaching or is in the vehicle’s path.

Air Suspension Aerodynamic Height Indicator Light

This light will illuminate when the air suspension system is set to the Aerodynamic setting.

Air Suspension Entry/Exit Indicator Light

This light will illuminate when the vehicle is automatically lowered from ride height position downward for easy entry and exit of the vehicle.

Air Suspension Off-Road 1 Indicator Light

This light will illuminate when the air suspension system is set to the Off-Road 1 setting.

Air Suspension Off-Road 2 Indicator Light

This light will illuminate when the air suspension system is set to the Off-Road 2 setting.

Off Road+ Indicator Light

This indicator light will illuminate when Off Road+ has been activated.

Auto HOLD! Fault Indicator Light

The Auto HOLD! Fault Indicator light will illuminate if a fault is detected, it will be indicated by a yellow ‘HOLD!’ indicator light that will stay on as long as the fault condition exists.

Audio System Failure Light

This light will illuminate to report a failure of the Audio System. Contact an authorized dealership as soon as possible.

Icy Road Condition Warning Light

It is also called Low Outside Temperature Indicator.

This warning light is to warn the driver the road may be icy. When the temperature on the outside temperature gauge is approximately below 40°F (4°C), the Icy Road Warning Light and Outside Temperature Gauge blinks and then illuminates. Also, the warning chime sounds 1 time. You can activate or deactivate Icy Road Warning function from the User Settings mode in the cluster LCD display (if equipped with supervision cluster).

Dusk Sensor Malfunction Indicator Light

This symbol lights up (together with a dedicated message on display) when a dusk sensor malfunction is detected.

Immobilizer Indicator Light (without smart key)

This indicator light illuminates: When the vehicle detects the immobilizer in the key with the ignition switch in the ON position. At this time, you can start the engine. The indicator light goes off after starting the engine.

This indicator light blinks: When there is a malfunction with the immobilizer system. In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

Immobilizer Indicator Light (with smart key)

This indicator light illuminates for up to 30 seconds: When the vehicle detects the smart key in the vehicle with the Engine Start/Stop button in the ACC or ON position. At this time, you can start the engine. The indicator light goes off after starting the engine.

This indicator light blinks for a few seconds: When the smart key is not in the vehicle. At this time, you cannot start the engine.

This indicator light illuminates for 2 seconds and goes off: If the smart key is in the vehicle and the Engine Start/Stop button is ON, but the vehicle cannot detect the smart key. In this case, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

This indicator light blinks: When there is a malfunction with the immobilizer system. In this case, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

The indication/light illuminates when the transmission has a problem.

AT OIL TEMP Warning Light

If this light illuminates when the engine is running, it may indicate that the transmission fluid temperature is too hot. If the light illuminates while driving, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and let the engine idle until the warning light turns off.

If the “AT OIL TEMP” warning light flashes after the engine has started, it may indicate that the transmission control system is not working properly. Contact your nearest dealer for service immediately.

High Beam Control System Warning Light

The light remains turned on if there is a problem with the system. Have your vehicle inspected at an authorized dealer.

i-ACTIVSENSE Warning Light

The indication displays if the system has a malfunction. Check the reason for the indication displaying on the center display or multi-information display.

i-ACTIVSENSE Symbol System Warning Status

If any system warning is activated, the i-ACTIVSENSE status symbol (warning/risk avoidance support system) (amber) is displayed.

i-ACTIVSENSE OFF Symbol System OFF Status

If all the systems are canceled using the personalization features or the i-ACTIVSENSE OFF switch, the i-ACTIVSENSE OFF symbol (Warning/risk avoidance support system) is displayed.

i-stop Warning Light

The light turns on/flashes continuously if the system has a problem. Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

Automatic Headlight Beam Leveler Warning Light

This light illuminates when the automatic headlight beam leveler does not operate normally. If this light illuminates while driving or does not turn off approximately 3 seconds after turning the ignition switch to the “ON” position, have your vehicle inspected at your dealer.

Dynamic Bending Warning Light

This warning light blinks:

When there is a malfunction with the Dynamic Bending Light (DBL). If there is a malfunction with the Dynamic Bending Light (DBL)

1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.

2. Turn the engine off and restart the engine. If the warning light remains on, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.

LED Headlight Warning Light

This light illuminates if the LED headlights malfunction. Have your vehicle inspected at a dealer as soon as possible.

Steering Responsive Headlight OFF Indicator Light

This light illuminates when the Steering Responsive Headlight function is off.

Steering Responsive Headlight Warning Light

The light illuminates when a malfunction occurs in the Steering Responsive Headlight.

Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) Warning Light

This indicator illuminates if the Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) system malfunctions.

Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) OFF Indicator

This indicator illuminates when the Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) system is turned OFF, or when the Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) system is suspended temporarily.

Driver Monitoring System Warning Light

This warning light illuminates if the Driver Monitoring System malfunctions. Have your vehicle inspected at a dealer as soon as possible.

Driver Monitoring System OFF Indicator Light

This indicator illuminates when “Driver Monitoring System” is touched to deactivate Driver Monitoring System.

Driver Monitoring System Temporary Stop Indicator Light

This indicator illuminates when the Driver Monitoring System is temporarily stopped.

Intelligent (I) Mode Indicator

This light indicates the current SI-DRIVE mode. The linear acceleration characteristic of the Intelligent (I) mode is ideal for normal driving usage.

The Intelligent (I) mode provides well-balanced performance with greater fuel efficiency and smooth driveability without stress. Power delivery is moderate during acceleration for maximum fuel efficiency.

This is ideal for around-town driving and situations that do not require full power output. It provides better control in difficult driving conditions, such as slippery roads or loose surfaces, due to gentler throttle response.

Sport (S) Mode Indicator

This light indicates the current SI-DRIVE mode. The Sport (S) mode provides the engine power desired by those who want to make the driving experience their own personal adventure.

Sport Sharp (S#) Mode Indicator

This light indicates the current SI-DRIVE mode. For sports-minded drivers, the Sport Sharp (S#) mode offers an exhilarating level of engine performance and control.

The throttle becomes more responsive regardless of the engine speed. Delivering maximum driving enjoyment, this mode is ideal for tackling twisting roads and for merging or overtaking other vehicles on the freeway with confidence.

4 Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) Warning Light

If the light comes on while the engine is running, it may indicate that there is a malfunction with the 4 Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) portion of the steering system. Push the ignition switch to the OFF position and then to the ON position. If the light does not turn off after cycling the engine, have the system checked by a retailer.

If a malfunction occurs in the system, the 4 Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) function will cease but driving can be continued. However, the steering wheel is slightly turned even when driving on a straight road. Drive carefully to the nearest retailer.

Intelligent Key System Warning Light

It is also called Smart Key System Indicator.

After the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position, this light comes on for about 2 seconds and then turns off.

This light warns of a malfunction with the Intelligent Key system.

If the light comes on while the engine is stopped, it may be impossible to start the engine. If the light comes on while the engine is running, you can drive the vehicle. However, in these cases, contact a retailer for repair as soon as possible.

Distance Control Assist (DCA) Indicator Light

This light comes on if there is a malfunction in the Distance Control Assist (DCA) system. If the warning light illuminates, park the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the engine, resume driving and turn on the DCA system again.

If it is not possible to turn on the system or the warning light stays on, it may indicate that the system is malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable under normal conditions, have the vehicle checked at a retailer.

Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) Warning Light

This light comes on if there is a malfunction in the Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) system. If the warning light comes on, park the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the engine, resume driving, and set the ICC system again.

If it is not possible to set the system or the indicator stays on, it may indicate that the system is malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable under normal conditions, have the vehicle checked at a retailer.

Preview Function Warning Light

The light comes on if there is a malfunction in the Preview Braking system. If the warning light comes on, park the vehicle in a safe place. Turn the engine off, restart the engine, resume driving, and set the ICC system again.

If it is not possible to set the system or the indicator stays on, it may indicate that the system is malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable under normal conditions, have the vehicle checked at a retailer.

Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) OFF Indicator

Indicates a malfunction in the adaptive front-lighting system. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized dealer immediately.

Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) OFF Indicator Light

The light illuminates when the Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) off switch is pushed to OFF. This indicates that the Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) system is not operating.

When the IBA off indicator light illuminates while the system is turned on (without the warning chime sound), this light indicates that the system control is temporarily unavailable.

When the IBA off indicator light illuminates with the warning chime sound while the IBA system is turned on, this light indicates that the system may not be functioning properly. Park the vehicle in a safe place. Check to see if the laser sensor is clean.

Turn the engine off, then restart the engine.

If the IBA off indicator light illuminates after following the procedures above, it may indicate that the system is malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still driveable under normal conditions, have the vehicle checked at a retailer.

Rear Active Steer Warning Light

If the light comes on while the engine is running, it may indicate that there is a malfunction with the Rear Active Steer portion of the steering system. Have the system checked by a retailer.

If a malfunction occurs in the system, the Rear Active Steer function will cease but driving can be continued.

If the light comes on while you are driving, contact a retailer for repair.

Direct Response Hybrid System Warning Light

When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position, the Direct Response Hybrid System warning light illuminates. After starting the hybrid system, the hybrid system warning light turns off.

If the hybrid system warning light illuminates while driving, it may indicate that there is a malfunction in the electric motor and/or other hybrid system components.

Stop your vehicle immediately and contact your retailer. If the hybrid system warning light blinks while driving, it may indicate that the Li-ion battery charge is low and you cannot continue to drive.

Do not allow the vehicle to coast when the Li-ion battery is low or when the hybrid system warning light blinks while driving. The engine will not automatically start to charge the Li-ion battery while the vehicle is coasting.

Check Suspension Indicator Light

When the ignition switch is placed in the “ON” position, the light comes on for 2 seconds.

SNOW Mode Indicator Light

When selecting SNOW mode while the engine is running, this light will illuminate. Snow mode can be selected to suit the conditions when driving on slippery road surfaces, such as on snow.

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Position Indicator Light

When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the indicator light shows the shift selector position.

Brake Override Warning Indication

This message is displayed when the accelerator pedal and brake pedal are depressed at the same time while driving. Release the accelerator pedal and depress the brake pedal.

Inappropriate Pedal Operation Warning Light

When a buzzer sounds:

• Brake Override System is malfunctioning

• Drive-Start Control is malfunctioning

• Drive-Start Control is operating

• PKSB (Parking Support Brake) (if equipped) is operating

Follow the instructions displayed on the multi-information display.

When a buzzer does not sound: Brake Override System is operating. Release the accelerator pedal and depress the brake pedal.

Shift/ Start Lock Indicator

It is also called Operate Pedal Light/ Engine Start Operation Indicator Light.

The engine refuses to start. Depress the brake or clutch to start the engine.

O/D (Overdrive) OFF Indicator Light

The overdrive off indicator light illuminates when the overdrive off mode is selected.

Soft Top Indicator Light

This light illuminates when the soft top is being operated or it is stopped before reaching a full open/close state. When the top is fully opened or closed, the light will turn off. The light blinks while the soft top is not fully opened or closed under the following conditions:

• When the vehicle is driven.

• When the shift lever is in the R (Reverse) position.

Be sure to fully open or close the soft top when driving the vehicle. The soft top can be moved with the soft top operating switch only under all of the following conditions:

• When the vehicle is stopped.
• When the ignition switch is ON.
• When the trunk is closed.
• When the shift lever is in a position other than the R (Reverse) position.

Pop Up Hood Warning Light

Indicates that the Pop Up Hood system has operated. The Pop Up Hood system cannot be reused once it has operated. Have it replaced by any authorized dealer.

Indicates a malfunction in the Pop Up Hood system. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized dealer immediately.

Rear Camera Detection (RCD) OFF Indicator

Indicates a Rear Camera Detection (RCD) function is malfunctioning or disabled. Follow the instructions displayed on the multi-information display.

Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) Warning Light

Indicates a malfunction in KDSS. Have the vehicle inspected by your dealer immediately.

Automatic Running Board Indicator Light

Indicates a malfunction in Automatic running boards. Have the vehicle inspected by your dealer immediately.

AUTO LSD (Limited-Slip Differential) Indicator

Press LSD Indicator switch to turn on the system. At this time, the AUTO LSD and VSC OFF indicators will come on.

Mud & Sand Mode Indicator

When the switch is pressed while not in Mud & Sand mode, the system switches to Mud & Sand mode and the Mud & Sand mode indicator, VSC OFF indicator and PCS warning light illuminate on the multi-information display or the instrument cluster.

Rock & Dirt Mode Indicator

When the switch is pressed while not in Rock & Dirt mode, the system switches to Rock & Dirt mode and the Rock & Dirt mode indicator illuminates on the multi-information display.

RSCA OFF Indicator

When deactivating the curtain shield airbags in a vehicle rollover, the “RSCA OFF” indicator turns on (only when the engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode). The roll sensing function for the curtain shield airbags and seat belt pretensioners will turn back on automatically each time the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode.

This switch only should be used in a situation where the inflation is not desired (such as during extreme offroad driving).

Operating conditions when the “RSCA OFF” indicator is on.

• The curtain shield airbags and seat belt pretensioners will not activate in a vehicle rollover.

• The curtain shield airbags will activate in a severe side impact.

• The seat belt pretensioners will activate in a severe frontal collision.

Go to Service Warning Light

Indicates that maintenance of the hybrid battery (traction battery) cooling component is required. The filter may be clogged, the air intake vent may be blocked or there may be a gap in the duct.

Have maintenance performed on the hybrid battery (traction battery) cooling component at your dealer.

State of Charge (SOC) Warning Light

The amount of charge remaining in the traction battery has fallen to the SOC gauge’s 2 lowest segments. Charge the vehicle.
