What Does The Ford P1229 Code Mean?

Engine running at Cruise speed, then after the PCM commanded the Intercooler pump (ICP) to operate it did not detect any current flow in the ICP circuit (with the intercooler pump energized).

Note: The Scan Tool ICP PID should change from ON to OFF.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Ford P1229 Code?

  • Pump motor windings are open, or the pump relay coil is open
  • The circuit between the relay and the pump is open, or the circuit between the relay and the PCM is open
  • Pump motor is shorted, or the motor ground connection is open
  • PCM has failed
