Refer to test procedures Section 419 of the Workshop Manual to determine why the Passive Antitheft System (PATS) received an incorrect Key Code from the Ignition Key Transponder.

How Can You Fix The Ford B1601 Code?

To service, reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using WDS release B31.10 or higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com. Clear all DTCs. If the condition is not corrected by PCM reprogramming, continue with normal diagnostics to pinpoint root cause.
