What Does The Chevrolet P1188 Code Mean?

Engine running over 30 minutes, and the PCM detected the Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) sensor indicated less than -23ºF for 4.5 seconds. The ECT and EOP sensors should be within a few degrees after sitting overnight.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Chevrolet P1188 Code?

  • EOP sensor signal circuit is open, or the EOP sensor ground circuit is open
  • EOP sensor is damaged or it has failed (possible open circuit)
  • PCM has failed
