What Does The Cadillac P1617 Code Mean?

Engine started, engine speed over 2000 rpm, throttle position over 5%, VSS over 3 mph, vehicle in steady state cruise (no lateral acceleration), and the PCM detected a low EOL switch signal voltage, and/or no transition of the EOL switch for at 8 sec’s.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Cadillac P1617 Code?

  • Engine oil level too low or too high
  • Engine oil level switch circuit shorted to ground
  • Engine oil level switch is damaged or has failed
  • PCM has failed
