What Does The Cadillac P1271 Code Mean?

Engine started; system voltage over 10.0v, ETC serial data operating, the accelerator pedal is leaving idle position, the PCM detected the voltage difference between the APP 1 and APP 2 sensors was not correct when leaving the idle position.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Cadillac P1271 Code?

Below are some potential causes of this DTC:

  • APP sensor mounting bolts loose or damaged
  • APP1, 2 sensor signal circuit open, shorted to ground or to B+
  • APP1, 2 sensor VREF circuit is open or shorted to ground
  • APP1, 2 sensor VREF circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
