OVERVIEWWhat Does The BMW P1721 Code Mean?
The Engine Control Module (DME) communicates with all databus-capable control modules via a CAN databus. These databus-capable control modules are connected via two data bus wires which are twisted together (CAN_High and CAN_Low), and exchange information.
What Are The Potential Causes Of The BMW P1721 Code?
Below are some potential causes of this DTC:
- CAN data bus wires have short circuited to each other
- ECU has failed
- BUS system failure
- Defective bus controller (EGS)
