What Does The BMW P1403 Code Mean?

Engine started, battery voltage must be at least 11.5v, all electrical components must be off, parking brake must be engaged (to keep daytime driving lights off), automatic transmission selector must be in park, the exhaust system must be properly sealed.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The BMW P1403 Code?

Below are some potential causes of this DTC:

  • EVAP power supply circuit is open
  • EVAP solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground
  • EVAP solenoid control circuit is shorted to power (B+)
  • EVAP solenoid valve is damaged or it has failed
  • EVAP canister has a leak or a poor seal
