What Does The Acura P1164 Code Mean?

Engine speed over 1500 rpm in 4th gear in closed loop, then a quick acceleration to WOT, followed by a 5 second deceleration period with the throttle closed, and the PCM detected the A/F sensor response time or the R-L or L-R switch rate was too slow.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Acura P1164 Code?

Below are some potential causes of this DTC:

  • A/F sensor may be contaminated or may have failed
  • Fuel supply system too lean (exhaust leaks in front of the LAF)
  • Fuel supply system too rich (the fuel filter may be very dirty)
  • PCM has failed
