What Does The Acura B1181 Code Mean?

This code indicates poor communication the Gauge Control Module and MPCS unit.

Note:

If DTCs B1014, B1015, B1064, B1065, B1613, B1614, and B1811 also indicated, perform the driver’s MPCS input test
If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

Below are some possible causes of this DTC:

Loose or poor connections between the Gauge Control Module and the driver’s MPCS unit
Perform the driver’s MPCS unit input test
Perform the Gauge Control Module input test
“Open” or “Short” between the Gauge Control Module and the driver’s MPCS Unit
Blown fuse in the main under-hood fuse box
Blown fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
Faulty Gauge Control Module
Faulty MPCS Unit
