P2138 – Throttle/Pedal Pos Sensor/Switch D / E Voltage Correlation

Meaning:

When the PCM has detected a fault in either the D or E (or both) circuit of the throttle position sensor, the P2138 happens

Possible Causes:

  • Defective throttle position sensor
  • Defective throttle body motor
  • Wiring or connector problem in throttle body motor circuit

Diagnostic Steps:

  • Visually inspect throttle body motor circuit for loose, broken, burnt or open wires and connectors
  • Test resistance of throttle motor and throttle position sensor. Replace as necessary
