What Does The Cadillac P1887 Code Mean?

With the engine speed over 500 rpm, TR switch in D4, Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) commanded on, TCC slip speed is -20 to +40, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that TCC Release pressure was present (the switch is open).

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Cadillac P1887 Code?

  • TCC release switch signal circuit is open
  • Turbine shaft O-ring seal leaks, oil seal rings missing/damaged.
  • TCC control valve damaged or No. 1 check ball is damaged
  • Spacer plate release exhaust blocked or case cover or spacer plate gaskets damaged
  • TSB 02-07-30-022A contains a repair procedure for this code
