What Does The Cadillac P1523 Code Mean?

Engine speed under 250 rpm, vehicle not moving, ECT sensor from 41ºF-212ºF, IAT sensor over 41ºF, and the PCM detected the throttle valves were not in their closed position. The ECM controls the throttle valves by applying a varying voltage to the throttle.

How Can You Fix The Cadillac P1523 Code?

  • This code is set when the throttle is unable to return to a calibrated “stop” position. Inspect for a condition where the throttle valves have been held open (binding, sticking).
  • Check for signs that ice may have formed in the throttle bore.
